How to connect with your soul?

I talk a lot about the soul and following soul guidance but you can’t follow the guidance until you are connecting with soul.  I teach that trusting the soul is the first step – I know I couldn’t/wouldn’t connect with my soul because I didn’t trust it at first (so if you have trouble connecting to soul this may a step worth looking into).

I have found connecting with soul to be the most simple and straightforward process that it is quite difficult to teach.  I suspect everyone will have their own slightly different way of connecting with their soul and so it should be a unique journey for everyone.  All I can do is share with you the way I have connected with my soul.

Some people talk about the heart being the gateway to the soul, and yes, I do believe there are parallels between “thinking from your heart” and “love” and “feeling” etc but the most important connection I have found between heart and soul is that the heart shares the same space with our lungs which facilitate our breath.   I believe that our breath is the gateway to soul connection.   And when you focus on breath you are focusing on the area where the heart space is.  So to me, it is the  breath/lung area that is the gateway to soul.

This is what my soul had to say about the heart/soul connection:
It is where the soul lives.  The symbology, the emotions, the love, the breath, the life that the centre of the chest represents is where the soul wants to be.  The soul embodies, so when you connect through the heart centre you fill up and shine from there.  It is the place to connect through and with others.  It is an anchor point of balance and connection.  Hug and you connect here.  Love and you feel here.  Breatsfeed - give life and nourishement.  There is so much the soul wants to be and the place it wants to be, and come from within from, is the heart space.

When I first began exploring the soul connection I would imagine travelling out of my body, through my crown chakra up into the  universe to find my soul and bring it back into my body.  I honestly ended up with a splitting headache every time I tried to do this.  It was too forced and not for me.   When I concentrated on my breathing and just set the simple intent to connect with soul, that is when the magic started to happen.

When we breathe we are tapping into the cycle of life.  There is always enough breath, it just happens without us even thinking about it.  We breathe constantly, and we don’t even have to be awake and conscious to breathe successfully.  The soul is like this also.  The presence of soul is constant and effortless and is always sustaining our life.   The breath is unlimited, there is always enough, our soul also has this quality of bringing us unlimited abundance, joy, energy and peace into our lives.  So the qualities of the breath and the qualities of soul are similar.

The peacefulness that comes with focusing on the breath is the  gateway to the soul connection.  I  would suggest breathing deeply and intentionally, feel each breath in, each pause, each breath out.  Become your breath.  Recognise the energy and life force that fills you up continuously and effortlessly through your breath.  Then set the intention to connect with your soul.  Feel the soul connection as peace.  When you  feel the peace and joy you will know your soul.  It also helps me to put a smile on my face while I do this process.  The smile lifts me up to meet my soul.  If you are a visual person, you might  like to imagine your soul as a person, colour or energy.
My soul connection feels like a blanket or cloak of energy that surrounds me and becomes me.  I feel tingly and peaceful when I connect with soul.   If you feel any heaviness or  anything other than peace then you may be connecting to the lower vibrating aspects of your soul.  Set the intent to connect to the higher aspects of your soul until you feel the  peace.  Through lots of practice I can breathe in while asking for a connection with my soul and as I breathe out I feel the tingliness – it happens that quickly now.  The soul connection also feels fleeting like the breath.   In another breath in and out, the connection can go away.   The aim I have is to bring my awareness to soul as much as I can and continuously connect – whenever I need to make a decision or want to feel that peace I connect.  It is becoming  more and more constant the more I consciously connect.

I can imagine one day that the soul connection will be there constantly, sustaining me, just like my breath without me having to even think about it.
