2018 has finally arrived!! January felt like a transition month to me and now it really feels as if we have started the new year. There have been many twists and turns and plot changes in January and so far in February, and it seems the motto of “expect the unexpected” is relevant.
If we can embrace the unknown, have no firm plans or goals then these twists and turns can be something to regard as curious and treat with wonder instead of fear and trepidation at something that was unexpected and unwanted.
I really don’t know how this year will pan out but so far the energy of 2018 feel like it is the year of movement. Not action, because to me action signifies goal setting and pushing forward, whereas the energy of 2018 feels like it needs to be just about movement, no pushing or forcing or directing or planning or goal setting, just present moment movement that is in the flow of life. And much of this movement may be unexpected and catch you by surprise, but if you are in the flow of your own inner universe, this movement is always in the right direction.
It is interesting how years take on flavours or qualities of their own and how we go through cycles in our lives. We don't always experience these energies or cycles in the same way at the same times and they seem to represent those phases of life we seem to go through with endings, cocooning and then new opportunities moving in.
Much like the butterfly, when a caterpillar ends its life it leaves behind all the caterpillar joys, wants and needs, even the day to day life that a caterpillar enjoys is no longer relevant, then it spends time cocooning, re-assessing, building up energy and resources, before emerging into the world as a butterfly, with an all new way of life and a new perspective of the world around it from a much higher vantage point that the caterpillar had before. So even though the life of the caterpillar has ended, the life of the butterfly has just begun. And the opportunities that the butterfly now has, weren’t even a possibility for the caterpillar to contemplate, in even its wildest dreams. In fact, if a caterpillar ever dreamed of flying it may have even brought up many fears and been a terrifying concept, but as a butterfly flying is natural and exciting.
There certainly is a change in energy with the start of 2018 which brings us new perspectives and ways of seeing the world. You might even feel like a butterfly yourself, emerging into a whole new world with a different awareness and perspective. Something that you may never have considered before, suddenly seems possible. Things you never thought you would consider doing again, suddenly seem interesting. When we stop trying to control life and allow the opportunities to come to us that reflect our evolving perspectives and energy, then wonderful and unexpected things can happen.
As we evolve and transform so does the world around us through our perspective and awareness.
Stay open and be excited for the new movements in your life, no matter which way they take you.
I believe that knowing who we are at our unique soul level holds the key to living an authentic and joyful life. Once we know who we are, we can begin to BE who we are, and then BECOME who we were always destined to be.
